Brighten Up your Phone Charger with Washi Tape!

Washi Tape Charger

Everything is brighter in the summer: The Sun, foods (like delicious Popsicles!), and even our clothes. Phone chargers should be no exception! Brighten up your phone charger with a bit of washi tape this weekend. Here’s how (Also, enjoy the galaxy theme of this collage; I’m pretty proud of it!)

Charger Instructions

Materials:

Scissors (for clean lines)

Phone charger (Mine had two parts: a wire and a charging cube.)

Wide colored masking tape (Mine is called Scotch Expressions masking tape and is 0.94″ wide.)

Rolls of washi tape with some transparent areas to let the masking tape show through

Steps (These are the instructions for making a charger that looks like mine, but there’s really no wrong way to do this!):

1. Wrap the charging cube in the wide masking tape.

2. Again, wrap the charging cube, but this time with your slightly transparent tape covering your first layer.

3. Cover both ends of the wire in washi tape.

4. Plug the wire into the cube!

As there are many different types of phones, chargers will vary. You can modify these steps based on your charger and personal style. I encourage you to experiment with different colors and patterns of tape. Have fun with it!

Also, I will unfortunately be on vacation next week and unable to blog. So… my next post won’t be until AT LEAST a week from now. I can hear everyone sighing at me. I’m sorry! Anyway, Adiós, and enjoy your FANTABULOUS new charger. ❤

Duct Tape Rainbow Fan

(Source: http://dollarstoremom.com/2014/02/make-a-rainbow-fan-from-duct-tape/)

What’s up? I’m super excited to share this duct tape project that I found on Pinterest (Make sure to follow Duct Tape Doodles!) You can check out the tutorial at Dollar Store Mom, where all credit goes (including image credits!) The basic idea is that you take apart an upright fan and cover each blade with a different color of tape. Once you put the fan back together and turn it on, the colors will blend together to create a cool rainbow effect. This craft is especially great during the miserable heat of summer.

Now, I have to give yet ANOTHER apology for my infrequent blog updates. I hope to post more often, especially for the rest of the summer, although this may be difficult as I will be going on vacation soon. I’ll try though! Thank you to all the loyal, patient readers of DTD. If you haven’t yet, follow Duct Tape Doodles on WordPress Reader, Bloglovin’, or even by email for more stick-tacular duct tape crafts!

Transform Last Year’s Flip Flops with Duct Tape!

Summer’s almost here (kind of), but last year’s flip flops just won’t do the trick. Wait! Don’t go out and buy a new pair. You can beautify your dirty sandals with duct tape!

Before you begin, give your flops a good scrubbing. I found these great instructions that should help.

For this project you will need two colors of duct tape (& some nail polish if you’d like ;-)).

1. Cut a few short pieces of tape (about 6 inches long, I used two of each color per flip flop). Hold each of them vertically and rip them in half so they are skinnier.

2. Wrap them around your flip flops like the picture shows. When both flip flops are complete, paint your toenails if you’d like.

Have fun! P.S. I was experimenting with the html option and decided to make the font orange!
